On May 19-20, 2011 the MERCURY evaluation and sustainability workshop was organised by the project partner, the State Electrotechnical University (LETI), and took place in St. Petersburg.

The first part of the workshop (April 19, 2011) was dedicated to the implementation of the MERCURY dissemination and sustainability plan: The project partners delivered three Master-Class sessions within the workshop on “Principles of Innovative Entrepreneurship” to more than 70 participants from various Russian universities. The specific topics of the partners’ contributions were: “Organisation of the technology transfer” (University of Alicante), “Formation of efficient conditions for innovation development at HEI” (State Agency of Ukraine for Investments and Innovations) and “Innovations and Technology Center at St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University” (LETI).

The second part of the workshop (April 20, 2011) referred to the sustainability of the main project outcomes as well as to the internal evaluation of the state of affairs concerning the operation of the IPR offices at the partner universities. All beneficiary universities affirmed the creation of at least two IPR offices at their institutions, delivered thematic descriptions of the particular offices and presented individual budgetary planning: At all universities the IPR office staff is permanently employed at the respective institutions and is currently financed from the MERCURY project budget (50%) and from the own HEI budget (50%). Each university is planning to bear the total staff costs by the end of the project.

The internal evaluation of the preliminary results was positive. The universities stated similar development needs and exchanged their best practices.

Furthermore, the mutual publication of the project book “Knowledge Triangle Education-Research-Innovation: European experiences and their applications in Russian, Ukrainian and Moldavian Universities” was discussed. The partners reviewed the content of the book proposed by the project partner, Mr. Oleg Khymenko, distributed the tasks and agreed on the edition schedule. The first presentation as well as dissemination of the project book is envisaged to take place within the Final Project Conference in Rostov-on-Don.
