MERCURY Study Visit at University of Alicante, 29-30 June 2009, Alicante, Spain

Representatives of Higher Education and Research Institutions from Russia, Moldavia and Ukraine visited the University of Alicante (UA) in the framework of the third study visit of the MERCURY project, on 29th and 30th of June 2009.

The objective of the study visit was to exchange experiences and practices of management of Intellectual Property (IP) issues in education and research. Staff members of the UA technology transfer office (OTRI) presented the University internal norms and procedures, and management of IP issues from the disclosure of the research result to the exploitation of the IP right. The director of the SEIMED project (part of the Enterprise Europe Network in the region of Valencia), Mr. Valero, presented experiences on international dissemination and exploitation of research results. Furthermore, the IPeuropAware project, the EUs IP Awareness and Enforcement Action, coordinated by the University of Alicante that includes the IPR-Helpdesk, supporting potential and current participants in EU funded projects on intellectual property issues, was presented to the group of visitors.

As scientific cooperation among EU and the eastern neighbouring area is increasingly important, it should be noted that CORDIS, the European Community Research and Development Information Service, has recently launched new web pages dedicated among other non EU countries, to Russia and Ukraine.
