MERCURY Training Visit, 30 June - 02 July 2010, Saarbrücken, Germany

The first training visit within the MERCURY project, "Treatment of Invention (from an idea to commercialisation)" took part in Saarbrücken from 1-2 July, 2010. Eight staff members from different IP Offices at the partner univerisities in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova came to Saarland University to attend the two-day training.

The informative training workshop was held by Mr. Koch, Ms. Dr. Seifert and Mr. Dr. Studier, who work at the Patent Marketing Agency at Saarland University and who have long time experience in IP Management and Commercialisation.

During the first day of the training, the staff members of the Offices were informed about the background and main aspects of IP Management (patents, patent filing and prosecution, financial issues) and IP Commercialisation (spin offs, terms and conditions, contracts, patent search).

The second day of the workshop mainly focused on patent searching and databases. Working in the Computer Centre of Saarland University, the training participants got the possibility to practically make a patent search based on the information received during the more theoretical part of the training.
